Well, yesterday was the big race. 26.2 miles and many hours later, I crossed the finish line in 82nd place (7th in Female’s 35-39yrs!!). It doesn’t really matter that only 91 people entered, does it? My friend Eleice, and I live by the principle that we’re better athletes if we can run for 5 hours. Runners that finish marathons in like 2.5 hours must not have the endurance that we can sustain!
I did take some honey on the run. I hate the taste of the GU distance athletes use. Hate it Then this local company from Provo sent me some of their honey and the package said : Strength, Recovery, Endurance! And it was all in a transportable package. Perfect timing I thought. So, I brought in on a 24 mile practice run. Loved it! Great energy.. then I used it at the race yesterday, and I survived! Obviously the honey didn’t make me lightening fast, but it tasted way better than the GU!!
The website says , “Honey gives athletes a slower, more sustained release of energy than the energy gels.” There are so many awesome benefits of honey. Check out the Honey Company for more benefits!
Italian sandwiches (mozzarella, tomatoes, mushrooms)
Hardboiled egg with sliced apples
Chicken Penne with green beans
** The recipes with stars by them, I have in a magazine or cookbook at home. If you are interested in the recipe, shoot me an email and I’ll send details to you.
Don’t forget, you can always print old menu plans on the archives page .
