Posted Dec 24 2010 12:00am
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE! AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!
(This is going to cover both days, Christmas I will be on vacation...at home) :)

Food is a MEGA part of the holidays, and the treats especially. (However usually by this time I'm so sick of sweets, but too sick off of sweets to eat anything real, it's terrible!)  ANYWHO! I ran across an awesome recipe, cookies! (Delicious!)

The first Peppermint Snowball Cookies-This recipe rocks BECAUSE the minty smell in the peppermint might actually help you eat less! In a stody at the Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia, people who sniffed peppermint essential oil every two hours at 23% less calories than those who didn't.  (for those of you curious about essential oils...I might have to start sniffing peppermint!) I guess mints would have to be a great way to kick cravings then wouldn't they!?

Ingredients
1 (16.5-ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough (at room temperature) (PS! If you want to make whole wheat sugar cookies to make them even more healthy check out this other recipe I found here )
1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons crushed hard peppermint candies
3/4 cup powdered sugar, divided

Preparation

Preheat oven to 350°. Cut sugar cookie dough into 8 pieces. Combine the dough pieces, 1/4 cup crushed hard peppermint candies, and 1/2 cup powdered sugar in a bowl or electric mixer. Let the mixture chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Coat hands in flour, and roll chilled dough into 1/2-inch diameter balls. Place the balls 2 inches apart on parchment paper–lined baking sheets. Bake for 9-10 minutes or until set. Cool cookies slightly on cooling rack. While cookies are still warm, sprinkle the tops with 1/4 cup powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons crushed hard peppermint candies.

MERRY CHRISTMAS LADIES AND GENTS!
