Have you created your holiday wellness plan?

Posted by Julie A.

Stanford Health Improvement Program (HIP) Presents:

Holiday Wellness Plan: How to Eat, Drink, Be Merry and Still Be Healthy Over the Holidays. Thursday 11/8, 12-1pm, $15.

Just when you thought life couldn't get more stressful, the holiday season arrives. It seems as if there just isn't time, energy, or motivation, to sit down to a nutritious meal or to fit in a daily walk. The combination of unhealthy eating and skipping out on exercise can lead to an unwanted holiday present: weight gain and stress. Extra pounds and losing out on energy and health during the holidays, however, are not forgone conclusions.

The key to a healthy holiday season is planning. Learn the special coping strategies you need to keep your energy and spirits up, your physical activity going, and your weight down during the holidays. Taught by HIP nutritionist, Joyce Hanna, there will be special emphasis on knowing what the challenges will be and having the strategies in place to meet them. Each participant will have the opportunity to work out a Personal Holiday Wellness Plan, which will help them develop specific strategies for staying balanced, healthy, and active through the holiday season. The goal during the holidays will be not to survive them, but to enjoy them!

Posters or bloggers at Wellsphere can also offer tips to each other on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle through the holidays. Personally, my workouts come first or second. I never miss 'em because they get me through my long days. My days can be long, believe me.
I managed to not gain during last year's holiday season , i presume it will be just the same. Add a bit of more stress abt my dissertation LOL I'm trying to stay as active as possible and of course, eat right:)
