Happy 4th of July

Posted Jul 04 2010 12:00am
Good Morning!

Happy 4th of July!

This is one of my favorite holidays.  I love fireworks and it is also close to my b-day so I have fond memories of decorating my bike (the banana seat Schwinn) and being in the Fourth of July Parade, eating watermelon and having block parties.  Fun times.

I am afraid that I have not been doing a lot of cooking because my house is pretty much packed up and we are awaiting the delivery of the PODs this week.  Yikes!  Time is flying by and we are hitting the road in 11 days.  We have been going to Whole Foods a bunch.... my favorite thing about Austin.  The Whole Foods headquarters is here and it is pretty much the most amazing Whole Foods I have ever been to.   I will definitely miss our weekend jaunts to Whole Foods..... but wait... I am going to be in walking distance of a small Whole Foods in my new neighborhood.  Yah!

We are getting uber excited about our trip.  We have had to change our travel plans once again and now will be traveling through AZ and California, all the way up to Portland.  I have found that La Quinta's are pretty much the most dog friendly hotels and we are going to take the kids to Disneyland!  We also have built in a day and half in my all-time favorite city, San Francisco.

In light of any food entries or recipes, I have included a few more videos of things that we are excited about moving to Portland.  I want to take the kids skiing and have heard that there is actually night skiing at SkiBowl in Mount Hood which is only an hour away.

I also want to take the kids to Ski Bowl this summer to the Adventure Park.  It looks super fun.

A trip to the Oregon Coast is already in the works for this summer.  It looks gorgeous and serene.

Off to swim before it rains again and then over to my cousin's house to shoot off some fireworks!

Have a great Fourth!
