Gearing Up for Holiday Eats

With the holidays slowly but surely approaching, here are some tips to help you avoid putting on the extra poundage, even if you decide to indulge just a bit.

* If you think you're going to splurge on the holiday eats, make your meals lighter (i.e., a high fiber cereal with skim milk for breakfast, a lean turkey sandwich for lunch, and two veggies at dinnertime without the starch).

* Even if you eat more over the holidays, exercising more should help balance that out. Add about 10 minutes to your gym regimen, and try to exercise at least four times a week, if not every day.

* Eat a snack before heading out to a party.

* Feel free to sample a little of everything, but remember it should really be just a little.
