Researchers from the National Cancer Institute have suggested that cancer prevention might be as easy as stocking up on the fruits and veggies. In fact, fruits and vegetables considerably lower the risk of head, neck, breast, ovarian, and pancreatic cancers. One of the trio of studies discovered that simply adding one serving of fruits or veggies to your daily food intake lowered the risk of head and neck cancer by 6 percent. But those who ate six servings of fruits and veggies for every 1,000 calories had a 29 percent decreased risk in comparison to those who ate 1.5 servings. The study, which was adjusted for smoking and alcohol use, found that vegetables offered greater cancer prevention than fruits on their own.
