Freezing Green Beans

Posted Sep 04 2012 8:00am

Green beans does not have the reputation of zucchini, but it should!  If you keep picking them, they will just keep growing, and growing, and growing!  Luckily, freezing them is super easy and fast so it is ok if you grow a billion of them.

Step #1:  Rinse thoroughly

Step #2: Snap or cut off the ends.  You can also use your kitchen shears which makes is super fast.

Step #3:  Water blanch for 3 minutes, then cool in ice water.  Let them drain for a few minutes.

Step #4:  Package.  I use a food saver because it gets all of the air out and keeps the freezer burn to a minimum.  But if you don’t plan on freezing them for long, you can put in a regular freezer safe container or bag.
