how does it work for your diet? does it have calories? if yes how many calories for 1 grame of fiber? should i eat high calories food with high fiber or low calories food with low fiber?
You want high fiber in low calorie foods. You want high fiber in low calorie foods. I had a hard time incorporating fiber into my diet so I take a teaspoon of Metamucil in cold water 15 minutes before every meal. It helps to fill you up so you don't eat as much and the fiber helps to digest your food so that its not just sitting around in your gut. They also make fiber products that you can sprinkle on any of your food or add into your drinks.
Add more fruits and veggies. Another good way to add low calorie high fiber foods to your diet is to incorporate more fruits and veggies. You can eat whole fruits instead of drinking fruit juices and add veggies to pasta dishes, omelets, and munch on them raw as snacks. Beans and whole grains, such as oatmeal are also good sources of fiber.
Smooth move. Okay, the more fiber - the better! Foods with a higher fiber content are more nutrient dense and generally lower on the glycemic index - which means it takes your body longer to convert unlike low calorie low fiber foods that spike your blood sugar temporarily only to crash and burn!!!!!!!!!
Not all fiber is created equal, however. For example, a loaf of hemp bread (so yummy!) has more fiber than a loaf of whole wheat bread, though whole wheat has more than white bread. In fact, hemp seed/powder is a great way to incorporate more fiber and protein into your diet. Two scoops of powder give you a whopping 48% of your RDI - not to mention 14 grams of protein and lotsa amino acids.
Love some fiber and it will love you back!
