Fiber--Great for Weight Loss

Posted by Nirmala N.

It's hard to deny the importance of fiber; roughage might be kinda filling, but it actually has fewer calories than other kinds of foods. A recent Penn State University study revealed that women who ate higher-fiber foods took in 30 percent fewer calories than those who didn't, but didn't feel more hungry or full than the others, either. Also, obese women who eat foods with a higher water and fiber percentage tended to lose 40 percent more weight than those who just cut back on portions and the amount of fat in their foods. A good tip to get more fiber into your diet? Simply pack in the soup and grains, which will make you feel more satisfied despite the few calories.

Once I realized what fiber could do to help your diet and your body, I've depended on it, and it's made me feel great. Kashi is a great, tasty way to get the fiber you need.
I remember one time I felt like my whole eating pattern had gone to hell in a handbasket. I was actually looking about 10 years older than I was and was terribly bloaty. I had a friend named Crazy Laura who had a terrific idea. She suggested I get a very high fiber cereal (Kashi wasn't out then) and just have that with apple juice for a couple days, along with lots and lots of water. I feel like it really helped! It's not the way I'd want to eat all the time, but I felt like I was getting rid of stored up toxins. One thing -- stay away from Ezekial cereal. It says it's made up of Biblical grains, which is appealing, but it tastes like tree bark. Atonement for breakfast, anyone?
FIBER ONE! its the best :) much less sugary than kashi as well...
