Fascinating Event to Improve School Food in New York City

Posted Dec 18 2008 8:13pm

"Two Angry Moms" Amy Kalafa, H.H.C. and Susan P. Rubin D.M.D., H.H.C. -- who recently appeared in one of my tele-seminars -- are speaking at an exciting event on April 1 in New York City.

If you're a concerned parent or administrator in the New York, you'll find this day-long conference, Schools and Food: Innovation, Opportunity and Wellness, quite intriguing.

The event, sponsored by the Baum Forum, will highlight "the challenges, successes and proven strategies for implementing change in the school food environment from pre-k through college."

Wow -- a lot of interesting topics will be covered.

Presentors will discuss recent research, current legislation, inspiring local and state policies, sample menu items, nutrition and gardening-based curricula, advocacy tool kits, farm-to-school programs, and how to build coalitions for change.

The list of collaborating organizations is pretty impressive, too. They include Just Food, New York Coalition for Healthy School Lunches, Slow Food U.S.A., and the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, where I'm currently studying to become a holistic health counselor.

Here's how to register.
