Good Afternoon and Happy Monday! As many of you already know I am a HUGE fan of oatmeal and was super excited when I received a package from Open Sky for Farm to Table Oatmeal.
Farm to Table is an organic food company that provides real and earnest food offerings to customers hungry for products that do more than just pay lip service to the organic food movement. We’re people who believe in traditional farming methods. We reject the notion that big agri-business is the only way to feed a community, and at every opportunity, we attempt to give back to the earth as well as to those farmers who work our earth in order to feed and nourish us. Organic Ancient Grain Oatmeal Ultimate Organic Oatmeal Organic Apple Raisin Oatmeal
This delightful blend of organic, sustainably grown
rolled oats, rye, wheat, barley and flax seed is mixed with organic
dried apples and raisins to impart a perfect top note to the hearty,
nutty grain base. One taste and you'll wonder where we've been all your
life!
I could not wait to crack into one of these cans of oatmeal. I decided to start of with making the Ulitmate Organic Oatmeal and I was not disappointed. 1 cup of Farm to Table Ultimate Organic Oatmeal 4 cups water pinch of sea salt Put Oatmeal and liquid in a medium saucepan, bring to a boil and then cook on medium/low heat stirring occasionally for 15-20 minutes, depending on desired consistency. Remove from heat and pour into bowls. Top with favorite maple Apple Compote and toasted pecans. Maple Apple Compote Compote: Cooking spray 1 tablespoon Earths Balance or butter 3 cups sliced Honeycrisp apples (about 1 1/2 pounds) 1/4 cup maple syrup 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon To prepare compote, heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray; melt 1 tablespoon butter in pan. Add apples to pan; sauté 8 minutes or until tender. Stir in maple syrup and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Keep warm. Makes 3-4 servings The Maple Apple Compote took this already amazing oatmeal bowl and sent it into the "over the top" category. Apples are in season right now and they are so delicious just on their own but if you saute them in a tiny bit of butter (or Earth Balance) and add maple syrup and cinnamon to them it makes them extra special. I actually felt like I was eating dessert for breakfast and my family loved this oatmeal as well. Have I told you that I have successfully converted the whole family to oatmeal now. The key is to give them lots of options. I put the following toppings on a Lazy Susan and let everyone customize their own bowls of oats. Earth Balance Brown Sugar Raw Honey Agave Nectar Golden Raisins Dried Apricots Sliced Almonds Zoe likes her oats topped with brown sugar and almonds. Emmet likes his with honey and dried apricots and Steve likes his with a pat of Earths Balance, golden raisins and a drizzle of agave nectar. Yum! I can't wait to try the other kinds of Farm to Table Oatmeal and will let you know what I think. If you are interested in giving them a try you can order them at www.farmtotablefoods.com Off to work I go... have a great rest of your day!
