I just ate last night at a pretty famous truck stop in the Shenandoah Valley, White's. Their menu is standard Southern -- with specialties like chicken fried chicken and fried catfish. And yet, even there, you can eat healthy if you want to.
Now, if I were you, I'd skip the "diet plate". What is this, lunch with my mom, circa 1977? Who diets on hamburger, cottage cheese and pasta salad? No, instead, go for their salad bar and some grilled chicken, fresh fish or some eggs. After all, breakfast is served ANYTIME! Their salad bar features local and beautiful produce, along with sunflower seeds and homemade vegetable soups made daily.
They have a non-smoking room,,, which is healthier, but if you go there, you might never see a waitress again.
