EPA: Rocket Fuel Fine to Drink

Posted Oct 10 2008 2:09pm

Could this be another secretive political drama unfolding? Maybe. On Monday the AP reported that the EPA has ended its long term research on the levels of Perchlorate (an ingredient in rocket fuel) found in our water system.

According to the AP Perchlorate"has been found in at least 395 sites in 35 states at levels high enough to interfere with thyroid function and pose developmental health risks, particularly for babies and fetuses, according to some scientists."

Yet the EPA has decided that there's no need to worry, but instead "that mandating a clean-up level for perchlorate would not result in a 'meaningful opportunity for health risk reduction for persons served by public-water systems.'" Environmentalists, Democrats, and those who generally would rather not drink rocket fuel ingredients are not happy, even going as far as to suggest that the EPA has been influenced by political pressure from the Pentagon. Hmm, that kind of thing never happens with our government.

Read "EPA Against Limiting Rocket Fuel Ingredient In Water" and learn all about it.

I'm sticking to my bottled water, seemingly elitist or not. Sink filters are even better. Just use stainless steel or glass bottles!
