Eating Well on Campaigns!

Posted by Tamar F.

Well folks, campaign time is coming upon us and you might find yourself working or volunteering on one. Campaigns have long, hard hours and they are mostly tight on funds. That means that they will often feel that the best they can pay you is with some slices of nasty, generic pizza and soda. I read in one of Elizabeth Taylor's books where she had trouble with food when campaigning with her then husband, Sen. John Warner. Same thing with Tipper Gore. If you are working on a campaign, I think you have to get a little ?diva-like? and insist that you drink pure water, eat vegetables and not a lot of processed crap. Stay away from constant coffee/beer cycles, too. And if you do drink coffee, stay away from the non-dairy fake creamers that are cheap and plentiful on campaigns. They are full of corn syrup and chemicals. In addition, try to eat at a real table, with good conversation, music or peace and quiet. You can't just shovel any old food in and expect to win that race. If you don't take care of yourself, your body, looks, health, energy and voice will suffer. You might get a ?rep?, but believe me, the seasoned professionals know to take care of themselves!
