One theory that has been circulating amongst nutritionists and dieters for some time now is that if you eat low-energy-dense foods, that contain fewer calories than energy-dense foods, you can actually eat more and not gain weight or even lose it. What in the world are low-energy-dense foods? They’re foods such as fruits, vegetables and whole grains that contain more water, fiber, and even air than things like cheeseburgers, chips, and ice cream. If you add more of these foods to your diet, along with beans, non-cream-based soups, along with lower-fat versions of things such as cheese, milk, and yogurt, you will feel full faster and consume fewer calories. It can be as simple as eating a salad with lunch and dinner and switching over to whole grain bread, cereal, and pasta. I like the idea that eating a bigger salad is better than a smaller steak...
Isn't this common sense? If it's a healthier option (such as fruit or veggies), then you can eat more of it + your getting nutritional value. Eating a burger is not getting you much of anything... except a load of calories you will later regret on the stair mill.
