On Sunday I spent some time volunteering for the Eat Real Festival in Oakland. This is an annual event that I have been meaning to attend for years, and I had a wonderful time!
A little information about the festival:
“Eat Real combines a state fair, a street-food festival, and a block party to create a celebration of good food. At the Eat Real Festival, participants learn where food comes from, who grows and makes it, and how they make it. Eat Real Festival attendance is 100% free of charge, all food at the festival costs $5 and less, and all food incorporates regionally-sourced, fabulous, and sustainably-produced ingredients.”
Basically, it was foodie heaven. Filled with tons of happy people eating food from truck and vendors, learning how to brew their own kombucha, and doing all sorts of fun food related things. Here are some pictures from my day. If you ever have the chance to attend this event in Oakland or LA, do it! I am already looking forward to volunteering again next year.

Here I am in my beverage booth getting ready to serve up some local beers to thirsty peeps.
Senor Sisig is from San Francisco and serves up Filipino Tacos, Burritos, Rice Plates and more. Major fusion food!

A pretty banana waiting in line for a beer

Listening to a talk on Tofu 2.0

The
Ritual Coffee mobile is super cute.

“putting the food back in fast” LOVE IT!
The Bittersweet Cafe in Oakland was there, serving up some of their famous chocolate selection.

My guy bought me a dark chocolate espresso ‘stache. It was equal parts delicious and hilarious!
INNA Jam was offering samples of some of their wonderful pepper jellies and other yummy preserves.

A vinegar making demo.

A place for the community to share their food stories.

I feasted on some incredible spicy Mac & Cheese from one of my fave restaurants,
Homeroom .

And also got to stuff my face with some delicious Vegetarian Mezze from one of the prettiest trucks at the festival,
Vesta Flatbread .
Do you have any foodie events in your area that you love attending?
