Eat Less Meat to Save the Planet and Your Heart? Ridiculous!

Posted Nov 26 2009 12:00am

We are now being advised to eat less meat - which will help to prevent climate change and have the happy effect of reducing heart disease as well.
I just couldn't resist sharing this story today - I find it totally ridiculous.  The advice is flawed and the predictions extremely questionable!

You can read all about it here

I find it really hard to believe that in 20 years time our demand for meat will be a massive 85% higher? I'd love to know how they worked that out... and what is the health claim linked to this call for us to reduce our meat-eating? psychological blackmail? a. its dangerous to suggest a reduction in eating meat - one of our main sources of protein (although I doubt anyone will listen to the 'advice' anyway) and b. if people eat less meat and eat more vegetables, beans and pulses instead, then there is going to be a lot more gas released by humans!... mmm
