This is a very interesting book that has a lot of theories that are backed by statistics! The author does repeat himself a bit, but on a whole it is interesting and educating.

This book explains how medium chain fatty acids are used by our bodies and how beneficial they are. It was an eye opener to learn of the negative effects of soy products. I started gaining weight when I went through menopause. That was when I started using soy products thinking I was helping my body handle the hormones changes. Instead, I was slowing down my metabolism and causing weight gain. I have started reading labels now and am appalled that soy oil is the first ingredient in so many products that I use. Another bit of knowledge that got me was learning how the seed oil business has cornered the market using biased research. I get so angry every time I learn another way greed has triumphed at the expense of the health of Americans. The information that comes out of the FDA cannot be trusted. It is all about the money. Soy oil, corn oil and canola (rape seed)oil are all genetically modified. We do not need to put those toxins in our bodies. I am using coconut oil and coconut milk. I have been losing 1/2 pound to 1 pound a week without any other changes in my diet. I am hoping that once my thyroid system balances itself, I will start losing a little faster. I thank Bruce Fife for writing this informative book.

5 Stars It’s Not You, It’s This Country’s Food Supply!
When I read in Bruce Fife’s book about how other countries, especially prior to World War II, almost never had any of the health problems we have in America now, I knew that he was on the right path. Because of the food industry’s appalling way of keeping us fat and unhealthy and the US government actually planning and plotting this so the pharmaceutical industry can make their billions and billions of dollars selling to sick and obese people, I was so happy to have Bruce Fife’s book. Since reading the book and reviews you realize that coconut oil helps you LOSE weight, did you know that at one time a tortilla chip company was frying their chips in coconut oil and people were actually LOSING WEIGHT eating tortilla chips instead of GAINING WEIGHT? But do you know what our lovely government did to this company? It threatened them with ruin unless they STOPPED MAKING the chips that people were losing weight from. Apparently other food companies were complaining that this company had an unfair advantage in the marketplace, and the US government is NOT INTERESTED in making people healthy, it is interested in making people sick and dependent on prescription drugs. DISGUSTING! Thank God people are still allowed to at least write books like this, although I wouldn’t put it past the FDA to outlaw books of this nature in the future! After all, books like this ruin the drug makers’ profits! I’ve only started with the coconut oil and apple cider vinegar, but reading people’s experiences convinces me I am on the right track! Plus the fact that prior to WWII islanders were using this oil every day and almost NEVER HAD A WEIGHT PROBLEM convinces me. Yes, some of us are a little lazy but most of us don’t eat humongous amounts of food either and we really shouldn’t be as fat as we are, but I really do not believe it is ENTIRELY our fault, either. I do believe weight adding chemicals are in our food, even fruits and vegetables! BUY THIS BOOK!
