Dr. Tyrone Bellamy is a doctor, lawyer, author and hot sauce maker in Tennessee. Dr. Bellamy is the quintessential Southern Gentleman and has researched the chemistry of foods and their effects. He makes his products from the crispest, freshest local veggies including hot Southern peppers. Now, I have just learned that Dr. Bellamy’s son has conscientiously begun making sugar free fruit butters from the South’s best bounty. Most people think of apple butter being with sugar and cinnamon – they don’t know what the natural frest taste of apple is. The butters are great for diabetics in moderation and certainly for anybody wishing to get rid of sugar in their diet. The new selections include a finely sieved strawberry butter, strawberry/raspberry, strawberry-rhubarb (Dr. Bellamy says it especially appeals to Southerners, with its higher rhubarb concentration!), apple, pumpkin (he says it’s just like pie!), pear, cherry, plum and peach. He is working on a tomato butter, but says it’s not “perfected” yet. I can’t wait! Contact Dr. Bellamy at 423-384-1990.
