This is often a question that people ask me and my answer is:
Why yes and no? I’ll tell you. For the most part, yes I do plan out my meals-I actually prefer to do so. I plan my meals for a variety of different reasons, here are just a few:
Grocery shopping-it’s easy to shop when you know what meals you will be having that week or even for a month.
Healthy Living-my life is so much easier when I know I will be getting in all of the nutrition my body needs on a daily basis and meal planning ensures I will incorporate that into each meal.
So I can indulge- I know it sounds weird, but I believe in everything in moderation. When I plan my meals out I can see how I am eating and where I can squeeze in dessert or that burger that isn’t always the best for you.
Even though I prefer to plan my meals-there are just some occasions where I don’t or can’t. When I am going out with a group of friends I will eat and drink what I want without a care in the world-why? Because one bad meal is not going to kill you. I actually find that I have an easier time maintaining when I have one day to eat and drink whatever I want. You know sometimes you just need a girls night filled with endless ice cream and glasses of wine
I also don’t plan if we are going to a sporting event. For example, this weekend Gregg and I will be attending a Badger football game where you are not allowed to bring in your own food or drinks. This leaves me with the options available at the park. The options at the park are pretty standard-burgers, brats, popcorn and dessert. Don’t get me wrong-I intend on eating a well-balanced breakfast but I won’t break a sweat if I can’t have a salad for lunch or dinner.
