DIY Nourishing & Natural Pumpkin Face Mask

Posted Oct 06 2010 6:01pm

‘Tis the season of pumpkin spice and everything nice! Pumpkin appreciation is in full-swing this Fall. Pumpkin is everywhere right now– smoothies , chocolate kisses , and lattes . I have to admit that I personally have been really enjoying all the all the pumpkin beer and Health Happy Life‘s recipe for homemade Vegan Pumpkin Spice Lattes . But the one place that I was genuinely surprised to see pumpkin was in beauty products .

It turns out that although autumn can be full of harsh winds and cold snaps, the icon of the season, pumpkin, is a great remedy for your skin. Pumpkin contains lots of anti-oxidant vitamins A and C, as well as zinc and alpha-hydroxy-acids which help to reduce the signs of aging and can slough of those dull winter skin cells. So if you have some extra pumpkin lying around this season, make yourself a nourishing and natural pumpkin face mask!

DIY Pumpkin Pie Face Mask

2 tsp cooked or canned organic pumpkin, pureed (I used Farmer’s Market Organic Foods )
1/2 tsp raw organic honey (humectant, regenerative)
1/4 tsp organic soymilk
1/4 tsp organic brown sugar (exfoliates, moisturizes, alpha hydroxyl acid) (I used Florida Crystals )

Combine the ingredients for your face mask. Mix gently and apply to your face avoiding the eye area. Rest and relax for 10-15 minutes while your pumpkin pie face mask gently exfoliates, nourishes and conditions your face. Rinse with warm water and apply the appropriate moisturizer for your skin type.
Recipe from Live Happy .

I did this mask today and it smelled good enough to eat–probably because it was! It was weird to put something edible on my face, but my skin looked and felt nice after I did. It didn’t turn my skin orange, so don’t worry about that! :)
