Dissolving

Posted Apr 23 2010 8:36am
After my post about the rock in my stomach, you might wonder how things turned out yesterday...

Well, Pudge and I headed out to Fort Funston.

View of part of the city from the trail.  There are grand sweeping views!

Immediately after getting out of the car and starting to walk toward the ocean, I began to feel some of the stress and discomfort melt.  Meeting several pit bull puppies as well as other dogs who made a beeline for me (do they know I have unlimited pets to give?), helped as well.  Pudge was a great walker yesterday!  We went up and down hills, even one sandy hill that took us almost to the ocean (but the tide was too high and little p was very cautious).

                                          My walking buddy!

When we arrived home, Edward was waiting for me and thus began the second part of the dissolving of the rock.

Sometimes, with anxiety, it really just takes other people or animals to bring about some calm.  Sometimes though, it won't dissipate no matter how many calming and comforting people are around.  At those times, there are only two remedies: 1. extremely intense exercise that involves some fear, i.e., body-boarding big waves, being thrown hard in Aikido, diving very deep or 2. deep sleep.

Today, knowing that aikido and a long walk with Pudge in the sun are in store for me has me feeling hopeful.
