I was asked recently what I'd recommend for resources for people with digestive problems.
The most remarkable story I've read was Virginia Harper’s recovery from Crohn’s disease, which she did through macrobiotics. For anyone highly motivated to heal, Virginia's book is a MUST READ: Controlling Crohn's Disease the Natural Way.
Virginia Harper founded The Ki Of Life Learning Center, in Franklin, Tenn., where she teaches natural healing and practices macrobiotic counseling. Ginny also lectures at the annual Kushi Institute Summer Conference (this year held Aug. 5-12 at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass.). These conferences are where I've come to know her. She has dedicated her life to teaching others.
And, you may have read in my story ( Becoming Whole ) that I suffered from ulcerative colitis for five years before adopting a “healing” macrobiotic diet for advanced breast cancer. I believe the healing of my digestive tract was a direct result of eating this diet based on whole grains, beans and vegetables. I’ll be writing some more about this soon.
