Cranberries: Another Great Superfood

It'll soon be time to break out the cranberry sauce for the Thanksgiving festivities, but that might be a slight reassurance, considering the remainder of your meal--cranberries are actually a superfood. They're high in vitamin C and fiber, with about 45 calories per cup. In fact, among fruit and veggies with antioxidants, cranberries weigh in the highest in fighting disease--way more than strawberries, spinach, red grapes, apples, cherries, and raspberries. In fact, one cup of cranberries has 8,983 total antioxidant capacity, and only blueberries outrank that. Only in fall and winter can you buy cranberries fresh, and if they're in an airtight ziplock bag in the fridge, they'll last two months.
