How adorable are these pug salt and pepper shakers?!? My sister gave them to me for Christmas, and I am totally in love with them. The fawn pug holds salt while the black pug holds pepper– and they kiss!
Yummy dinner tonight! I tried to recreate Beans on Toast from The Black Sheep in Ashland, Oregon. The meal was just so delicious, I had to try to make it on my own.
Even as a healthier version of traditional mac & cheese, tonight’s dinner still wasn’t the most nutritious meal. But, it sure did taste amazing!
While cooking, I munched on a couple of small pieces of French bread.
1 15.5-ounce can of cannellini (or navy) beans
5 ounces of Kraft Velveeta Cheese
1 tsp of minced garlic
French bread, sliced
Rinse and drain beans
Melt Velveeta cheese in a medium sauce pan
Stir in minced garlic then beans
Meanwhile toast French bread
Butter bread, if desired
Use toasted bread to scoop-up cheesy bean mixture
Don’t get me wrong, this meal turned out wonderfully, but I would have preferred a less thick cheese sauce. Mal, on the other hand, could not stop ‘yum-ing’ and ‘mmm-ing’ while eating. He loved the thick Velveeta cheese.
Maybe not draining the beans or adding some chicken broth would lighten it up next time? For once, a meal had too much cheese for me!
For dessert, I enjoyed a couple of brownies. It was a two brownie night, if ya know what I mean.
Carrots ‘N’ Cake has come along way since February 2008! I stumbled upon some posts from my first couple of weeks of blogging. It’s funny how some things never change though– like how often I eat homemade pizza!
