Alright, I wrote something about alcohol and it got me thinking. I had a friend who did some modeling and she was told by her agent that if she had to party, to drink a Vodka/Soda.
He said that although vodka soda has alcohol that still had to be processed, it lacks much of the extra calories and sugars drinks like beer, wine and whiskey carry. She said she drank all the time and never gained an ounce. Um, but she was a model, so...
I figured I'd give this technique a try though and see if it made a difference. Here's the only thing that I've noticed so far - I don't get hungover (as long as I order a decent vodka) the way I would with other drinks. I think that part of a hangover has to do with all the sugar in those drinks (has anyone ever had an ice-cream hangover? I have!) and I've noticed that when drinking vodka, I feel much better. Also, I don't get drunk as fast (weird, considering it's a hard liquor). That may be because it's harder for me to drink because it's not like sipping on a dessert, but I think it also has to do with sugar levels as well. I don't feel that instant drunk that I do with wine, for example.
Has anyone else tried this? I have to admit, now that I'm used to vodka, it isn't as plain as I thought. It actually has a lot of flavor - it's just subtle. To save the headaches and maybe the pounds? Cheers to that!
