I am actually feeling pretty good about the rest of my eats today. I have really been trying to wait until I was truly hungry to eat because I enjoy my food so much more when I do. Not overly hungry just pure and simple hunger. Hunger is a good thing and I often have to teach my clients what true hunger really feels like. I don't recommend waiting until you are STARVING to eat, because we tend to make poor choices then, but have the first feelings of hunger and planning accordingly can take food to a new level of enjoyment. You are nourishing your body and giving it the fuel it needs.
For example, my afternoon snack was soo good today! I was genuinely hungry and I love crisp Fuji apples. I had 1/2 a HUGE Fuji Apple sliced, topped with a sprinkle of cinnamon and 6 Blue Diamond Oven Roasted Brown Sugar Cinnamon Almonds. This was so tasty! 96 calories for the apples and 45 for the nuts-- roughly a 150 calorie snack. Perfect.
I have to say dinner was one of PURE enjoyment tonight. I made an Avocado Feta Veggie Burger with a Super Salad.
Super Salad Red and Green Romaine Mix Mann's Sunny Shores Broccoli Slaw Matchstick Carrots Snap Peas Yellow Tomato Red Onion Feta Cheese
Dressed with mixture of dijon mustard, balsamic vinegar and splash of olive oil.
This was a very satisfying meal! I absolutely love the Avocado Feta Burger-- might have to have another one tomorrow.
I ended the evening with a "healthy" dessert. I love Siggi's Orange and Ginger Yogurt. It is my favorite and they only sell it at Whole Foods here in Austin so I don't have ready access to it all the time and it is a bit pricey as well. It is worth it if I make it a special treat. Tonight I added a bit of extra Crystalized Ginger on top and it was OUTSTANDING. I also had the other half of the huge Fuji Apple with Cinnamon. I had a nice sweet treat without guilt tonight. Yah!
It is time for me to practice my yoga sequence for Saturday's class. Have a great evening.
