Hello friends! I took a little break to enjoy my family, friends, and a whole lot of relaxing. Done, done and done. I had plans to do a few blog posts while on vacation but I was having so much fun and was so relaxed that I totally forgot. Heh. How is that for a nice break from reality?!
But today is the last day of 2012 and I’m glad to be back to end the year on the right foot.
Get ready for photo overload! This is my official Christmas Recap!
Like every year, I spent my Christmas break in Pensacola, Fl with my parents and their pups. I showed up just in time for Happy Hour!
I also spent some time wrestling on the floor with Butch and Spike to say hello. When I say wrestle I really mean I lay on the floor and roll around while they try to eat my hair.
My parents went all out with the Christmas decorations both inside and out. I love love LOVE their Christmas trees. One is decorated with icicles that that they collect and our family photos and there is a smaller one that is decorated with all of my ornaments.
(if you look closely in the above photos you can easily see it is like a little Erin shrine. Only child FTW!)
My grandma made the Santas above and they are always displayed somewhere in the house. They are so cool and I love to look at the year marks that are on the bottom.
While I was home there was some serious eating that was done. Everything was delicious!
We also managed to fit in some fun. Including a visit to the blue Wahoo’s Stadium to check out the Winter Wonderland. I heard they had some type of ice-less skating rink that I had to check out.
After we got our ice skates laced up and got on the “ice” I realized that it was actually just plastic. So rather than move forward or backward while gliding, we actually just slid to the side. I could physically walk much better rather than skate. While it wasn’t what I was expecting I don’t think I have laughed so hard in months. It was hysterical watching my Dad just trying to glide around. There is video. I was banned from showing it to everyone. Party pooper.
I also got a chance to check out the new ferris wheel on Pensacola Beach. It was there the last time I was in town, but I just didn’t have a chance to check it out. It was a cloudy day, but still pretty cool to be so high up and get a different view of the beach.
As with any trip to my parents house, there were some yummy cocktails that I was forced to consume including margaritas, Red Velvet wine, chocolate martinis, and mimosas.
When it came down to Christmas, we did it up big. I got all dressed up in my sparkly finest. I had a completely sequined skirt and shoes. You would think at a Catholic church this would be too much, but I was squeezed right next to a girl that was wearing a similar skirt in gold. I love a good sparkle session! The tree was lit up in all it’s glory and there were packages ready to be opened on Christmas morning.
My parents and I always do a funny Christmas hat photo and this year I was in charge of the hats. How did I do?!
In between eating, drinking and being merry I saw a few movies, took a bunch of naps, and just enjoyed being in Pensacola with my parents. There is nothing like a Florida Christmas!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I can’t believe we are wrapping up 2012, but I’m so excited to spring into 2013. This is going to be a great year! I just can feel it!
