Cherry Blackberry Green Smoothie

Its day 4 of our healing whole foods detox cleanse! I’m so excited to share our detox cleanse with all of you and I hope that doing it will help you start on the path to vibrant health and wellness! This Cherry Blackberry Green Smoothie is a day 4 green smoothie recipe for our 5 day healing whole foods detox cleanse. This smoothie should be enjoyed for both breakfast and a mid-afternoon snack. If you’re on the cleanse right now you should be feeling really good at this stage with lots of energy and the glow that eating healing foods and cleansing brings!


Cherry Blackberry Green Smoothie is a refreshing blend of dark cherries, blackberries, red oak leaf lettuce, mint leaves, hemp seeds, and almond milk. Cherries and berries are two fabulous fruits that taste amazing especially when paired with all the other ingredients in this yummy smoothie. Your body will thank you when you drink this alkalinizing smoothie blend because it’s packed with amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, chlorophyll, phytochemicals, and fiber which will help detox and rejuvenate your body.

Cherries and Blackberries

Cherries and blackberries are two sweet antioxidant-rich superfood fruits that have a wide variety of powerful nutrients that aid detoxification and healing. Cherries and blackberries are in season in the summer here in California but I decided to include them in this recipe using frozen organic cherries and blackberries because their important health benefits are so crucial for a successful detox cleanse. Juicy Cherries contain beta-carotene, melatonin, iron, vitamin C, vitamin E, folate, potassium, magnesium, anthocyanins, bioflavonoids, and fiber which are all powerful nutrients that fight inflammation and degenerative diseases like cancer, arthritis, and gout. Succulent Blackberries are rich in vitamin C, vitamin K, anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and fiber. Ellagic acid is a antioxidant shown to protect our skin from damage caused by ultraviolet light. The anthocyanins that are in both cherries and blueberries are a potent anti-inflammatory that protects the body from free radical damage.


Red Oak Leaf Lettuce

Red oak leaf lettuce is a vibrant colored, water-rich leafy green that contains many nutrients for healing. This mild flavored leafy green is rich in chlorophyll, phytonutrients, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants, folate, vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, and potassium all which aid your body’s ability to detox. I love adding this red oak leaf lettuce in many of the vegetable salads that I make every week and it’s wonderful taste never disappoints me.


Hemp Seeds

Crunchy Hemp seeds are one of the best plant-based sources of protein available with all the essential amino acids that your body needs. Hemp is also a great source of fiber, chlorophyll, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, along with the idea balance of essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 in a 3.75:1 ratio. 3 tablespoons of hemp seeds contain 10 grams of easy to digest plant protein.



Mint adds a wonderful herbal note to this smoothie that makes it so refreshing! Mint is a potent digestive aid that is high in antioxidants and phytochemicals that fight free radical damage and disease.

Cherry Blackberry Green Smoothie

Raw Vegan, Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Sugar-Free

Makes 2 servings

3 cups homemade almond milk* or spring/filtered water

1 cups frozen organic pitted dark cherries (I used Earthbound Farms brand)

cup frozen blackberries

3 cups organic red oak leaf lettuce

4 fresh mint leaves

3 tablespoons hemp seeds

Stevia-to taste


1. Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth and creamy.

2. Drink ½ for breakfast and refrigerate the remaining smoothie in a glass mason jar and enjoy for a mid-afternoon snack.



*Homemade Almond Milk

Soak 1¼ cups of raw almonds with ½ teaspoon of unrefined sea salt in enough purified water to cover the almonds, overnight. Drain almonds in the morning, rinse, and drain again. Place in blender along with 3 cups of spring or filtered water and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer or nut bag and use in the recipe. Pour the remaining almond milk in a glass mason jar and cover with the lid. Store milk for up to 3-5 days.
