
It is healthy to lose 2 - 3 lbs a week. Extreme dieting and overexercising may give you quick results, however not healthy ones, nor anything you'll be able to maintain.
I would have to know more about your current diet in order to guide you better. What I can suggest in general, get at least 30 minutes of exercise daily, drink water rather than calorie ridden beverages, eliminate simple carbs such as white bread, white flour, white sugar, white pasta - substitute with whole grains, and eat more veggies and fruits! Increase your fiber intake. Choose low or non fat dairy options.
Your plate should be filled half with veggies, one-quarter lean protein, one-quarter starch.
These are things that you should be able to maintain and help you get to a desirable weight.
