Did anybody see Jessica Simpson’s The Price of Beauty last night? I thought it was really good, actually!

She and her friends went to Thailand to see what was considered beautiful in that part of the world and the price women paid to embody that. In Thailand, that included things like layering brass rings around women’s necks to elongate them, and using skin bleach to become as pale as possible. They interviewed one woman who had a terrible reaction to a facial skin bleaching solution, which left her scarred and embarrassed. That was the “price” she paid for beauty. I was intrigued and I can’t wait to see where else they go!

There were a couple times where she was tip toeing around being offensive (getting the giggles after meditating with a monk for 40 minutes,) but that girl has some serious Southern charm and I thought she pulled it off. Ben, on the other hand, was highly annoyed. ;)

In other news, I can’t stay away from Almond Butter & Jelly Oatmeal !

In the mix:

  • 1/3 cup old fashioned oats
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1 banana (1/2 sliced in while cooking, 1/2 sliced on top)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon chia seeds
  • cinnamon
  • almond butter
  • raspberry jelly

Next time I think I’m going to but some crushed peanuts on top! Oooo, you know what else would be really good? Almond butter and marshmallow whip – fluffernutter sandwich, anyone?! ;)

Oh and, squeal, guess who’s nearing the end of her almond butter jar?! Oats in a jar, oats in a jar, oats in a jar… Can’t wait!

For lunch I’m packing some Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup and an apple.

Shredded chicken in this recipe is my favorite, I think. All I did was poach two frozen chicken breasts in some water for about 10 minutes and then shredded it up with my hands. Love that texture!

And the most bizarrely shaped apple ever. It’s a Fuji. I’ve been all over the apple kingdom recently!

As you may know, Ben and I are heading down to New Orleans  here shortly, and I thought it’d be a great time to put up some guest posts from bloggers and non-bloggers alike!

I’m looking for some of your all time favorite recipes. Could be the quick, no-fail casserole you throw together each week, or a secret family recipe – it’s up to you! Just make sure to include:

  • First Name
  • Blog URL (if applicable)
  • Name of recipe
  • Any story behind the recipe
  • Ingredients & directions
  • It least 1 image of prepared recipe

Email your info to: . Deadline for entry is Sunday @ 5pm!

I think this’ll be fun – who doesn’t like to add tried and true recipes to their repertoire? :D

Have a great Tuesday everyone!

Do you prefer to eat more during the day or at night?

I’m a big time grazer and nibbler at night, so I try and keep the calories smaller during the day, so I can eat more at night!
