The problem is, I love cabbage when it's swathed in fats, like cold with mayo or hot with butter. When I was a little kid, I had to get my finger stitched back on after trying to cut a cabbage with my mom's electric knife. Do you like red cabbage? That's also tasty and interesting in different salads. Some very gourmet restaurants I have been to stew red cabbage with raisins, oranges and other fruits and serve them as a garnish with roast duck, for example. It also can be an ingredient in "red flannel hash", a New England favorite.
