Behind the Food
Part 3
Putting on my face
Hey guys!
Happy Sunday! I know it has been a few weeks since I have done a behind the food post, and I promise I will be continuing them as I have time in weeks to come!
This week I am addressing a very fun topic for me, one that I have had a few emails on… makeup!
I am NOT a girly girl… well, maybe a little. I don’t obsess over looking my best, but I do love hair and makeup. I could spend hours in Sephora (and I have!) looking at new products!! I love experimenting, and at one point during high school I seriously considered becoming a makeup artist!
Nowadays, I don’t have as much time to play around, unless it’s for my devil costume at halloween, where smoky eyes…

and red lips…

are a must!
But usually I go for a more natural look.

Because I wear glasses most all of the time, I like to make sure my whole face looks fresh and clean, but put the focus on my peepers because my glasses tend to take the focus off of my big brown eyes.
So for daytime, I usually just use an organic moisturizer (pic) and swipe my face with a light mineral powder to even out my skintone.
Favorites include…
Neutrogena Mineral Sheers

or the more pricey, but definitely worth it

Bare Minerals Powder.
Then I focus on my eyes.
I always, always, always have dark circles under my eyes, so I always look tired. To brighten up my eyes I use an under-eye brightener. My current favorite is by Almay.

I always chose one shade lighter than my skintone, this is where the brightening action is!
Depending on the day (and how much time I have!) sometimes I will wear a light shade of eyeshadow. Favorites are-
Smashbox trio in Center Stage (I only use the medium color, when I go out I layer all three!)

And my alltime favorite neutral shade-

(This isn’t the color; just what it looks like!)
Lorac Eyeshadow in Serenity
It has this amazing shimmer that isn’t too much, but just enough to make your eyes luminous!
The two things I always apply are eyeliner and mascara.
Because eyeliner is applied so close to my eyes, I’m always searching for an all-natural, hypoallergenic formula that won’t irritate my sensitive skin. Found it!

Korres eyeliner in Brown 2 for Day and Black 1 for night.
I always switch back and forth between mascaras. I always use a black, volumizing formula on my long dark lashes. But I switch between my three favorites.
Current favorite-

Neutrogena Healthy Volume in Carbon Black.
My other two favorites are by Benefit …

and Fresh …

A swipe of all natural lip balm from Alba or Kiss My Face and I’m out the door!
When I go out at night, or to an event, I keep the same routine, but add a couple extras.
Blush or bronzer, depending on what I’m wearing, or the time of year.
The BEST blush ever, hands down-

Nars blush in Orgasm (yea, it’s that amazing)
No one will argue. It looks great on everyone!
As for bronzers, I go with Cargo in Coral Beach or Benefit’s Dallas.

I also add an extra coat of mascara, black eyeliner instead of brown- on the top and sometimes inner bottom, and I do a gold or smoky eye.
For AMAZING eyeshadows, there is nothing like MAC.

I love experimenting with color, especially blues, greens and purples. Nothing too extravagant, but never underestimate the power of a fine line of color right around the rim of your eyes… it will make your whole face POP!
Speaking of “POP” I have a couple more favorite products to share with you all.
First, if you want to take your look up one notch… add some of Benefit’s High Beam just under your cheekbones, or right under the outer corner of your eyebrows.

It is an amazing hilighter!
Do your lips get chapped in the winter? I know mine do. Tarte’s delicious tasting, and miracle balm FRXtion, is the perfect product.

One side is a sugar-based exfoliant, and one side is a smoothing balm.
Last but not least, just a few of my favorite scents…
Euphoria, by Calvin Klein

Princess, by Vera Wang

Amber Romance by Victora’s Secret
