“Researchers analyzed data from 9,475 adults who took part in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of 2003 to 2006 and found that self-reported calcium density was not sufficient to meet recommended levels.”
One issue with this calcium deficiency in our diets is that as we age, we consume less food; especially those in their 70’s and 80’s. When we consume less food, we have less of a chance to get the necessary calcium that our bodies need. Out of the participants in this study, only 51 % were taking calcium supplements—not a good percentage. Although, the age factor was opposite in this aspect; since older participants were more likely to start taking such supplements.
