Spring is in the air and along with it comes pollen, dust and allergies! Yes, allergy season is in full-force. With all the beauty and newness that spring brings it also brings much discomfort for those that suffer from allergies. Perhaps that is why this month is called: Allergy and Asthma Awareness Month.
First, I’d like to say that I am very honored to be participating in the ‘Room To Breathe‘ program sponsored by.
It seems that during the spring months when everything starts to bloom my family suffers from the sniffles, sneezing, itchy and running eyes syndrome. If you are one that suffers from these same symptoms you know how uncomfortable it can be. So, naturally when I was approached by Sharp to test their air purifier I was very excited.
Today, though I want to share some of the tips that have worked for us when the allergy symptoms arise from all the beautiful blooming flowers.
One of the things that has helped my entire family is the implementation of hardwood floors. When we noticed the amount of dust and pet hair that was accumulating in the carpeted floors, we knew we had to make some drastic changes. One of those changes was the removal of carpeting in our home and the addition of wood floors and tiling. Although this may seem drastic to many it was something that has helped our family a lot!
We love animals and giving our dogs away was not an option. So, one of the other things we do is make sure the animals are clipped short to avoid them bringing in more allergens from the outdoors on their fur into the house. Along with keeping their fur clipped short they are bathed every week, something they don’t enjoy much but necessary for the health of the family.
Unfortunately, during this season we are unable to keep the windows open for the fear of pollen and dust accumulating on the floors and furniture. The air conditioner filters are also changed frequently.
Dusting is essential during this season. Of course, it’s important not to push the dust all over the house, so we’ve started using damp cloths that will attract the dust.
We have also found that diffusing essential oils has helped to control the air quality in our home. One of our favorite essential oils is from Young Living called Thieves. It not only helps to keep the air sanitized and cleaned it is great for cleaning surfaces as well. You can learn more about this essential oil –> here or leave a question in the comment area below.
These are some of the things we have done to limit the dust and pollen accumulation in our home, what are some things that have helped you in your home during this allergy season?
Be sure to come back where I will share my experience with the Sharp PCI Air Purifier along with other tips I’ve learned to minimize the allergy symptoms.
