A Simple and Healthy Detox for New Years

Posted Dec 26 2010 4:54pm

I definitely got caught up will all of the holiday cookie madness. It’s time for a very simple post-holiday detox:

  1. Lots of water. A least 8 glasses a day.
  2. Loads of veggies. Vegetables are loaded with fiber and many are naturally cleansing to move the bad stuff out of your body.
  3. Physical activity. Do whatever you can handle. I personally don’t think intense workouts are automatically to be included in a detox, but getting moving is. Walks or gentle runs are great.
  4. Some extra rest. It seems like every other week a study comes out about how good getting enough sleep is for you . Your body needs rest to return to optimal while detoxing.

To make your detox even simpler, focus on green smoothies and one of your favorite vegetable dishes.  I am making green smoothies for breakfast and lunch and eating my current favorite extra vegetable marinara over chickpeas for dinner. Focus on eating vegetables that you like and do not buy any crazy “cleansing” products or diet aids. Keep it simple!

3-4 days of focusing on the 4 things listed above should have you feeling good as new. I am on day 1 myself :)
