I don’t know about you, but even on my best days if I drive past a bakery or a donut shop, I feel a bit of a nudge to turn in and treat myself. And while there is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the simple pleasures in life like a cupcake, if you’re on a weight loss journey it may not be the best choice for you at that moment.
So what keeps you from turning in? Is it sheer willpower? Maybe, but all that straining and struggling isn’t my idea of a fun way to live. As a matter of fact, over the last year I’ve increased my capacity to receive and to enjoy pleasure in such a powerful way that straining and struggling to whip my body into shape simply has no appeal for me any longer.
What drives me now is the vision I believe God has given me for my health, and it’s literally intoxicating at times it’s so much fun to move toward. There was definitely work to reach this place; there were things I had to let go of, deep levels of personal growth and development that I moved through, but to say that it’s been worth it is the understatement of the year!
If you’ve tried over and over again to lose weight; if you feel as though your heart will break (or you’ll throw up in disgust) when you look in the mirror; if you’ve almost lost hope of ever permanently losing excess weight and creating a body you love that honors and glorifies God, then I have a secret to tell you – you can most certainly create the health and the body you want to create!
One very important key is to create such an irresistible vision for your health that the passion you feel for making it happen overrides the food temptations that are placed in your path (and yes, I do mean placed – more about that later. )
How do you create an irresistible vision? Start by getting a journal and answering these questions:
One year from now:
1) What will I weigh?
2) What kind of energy will I experience on a daily basis?
3) With my new body, what will be different about my wardrobe?
4) What will my nails, skin, and hair look like?
5) What kinds of adventures will I embrace with my new body?
Then simply continue writing, allowing whatever is in your heart to flow out onto the paper. You’ll sense your spirit begin to hope and dream, so take some deep breathes and sink into what’s possible for your health! Give yourself 20 – 30 minutes for this exercise.
If you’d like to spend 7 days in a very sacred space, focusing on your relationship with God and with yourself, and you’re ready to finally say goodbye to excess weight once and for all, I’d like to tell you more about a free program I’m offering to help you create your irresistible vision and finally stop going around the same mountain of yo-yo dieting and emotional eating. Wishing for you a vision that sets you on fire with passion!
