A Healthy Breakfast That Packs in the Calcium

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the average American diet is severely lacking in calcium. This is pretty serious, considering that calcium is the mineral responsible for maintaining bone density and creating a buffer against high blood pressure. And since breakfast is the most important meal of the day, here's an idea for a healthy, easy-to-make calcium-packed breakfast that's also low in calories. Fig and Granola Bowl 1) 2 tablespoons slivered almonds 2) 8 ounces low-fat plain yogurt 3) ? cup low-fat granola 4) 2 chopped dried figs Simply preheat the oven to 250; bake the almonds for 5 to 6 minutes; fill a bowl up with yogurt; and finally, add the granola, figs, and toasted almonds. Voila! It's a delicious meal packed with calcium, fiber, and protein, that comes in at a mere 385 calories.
