22-Year Survivor of Stage 4 Malignant Melanoma to Speak in Maine

Posted Mar 21 2009 3:57pm

Marlene2 Marlene McKenna of Rhode Island will speak about her experience as a 22-year survivor of Stage 4 malignant melanoma at our local macrobiotic potluck. Please come listen to Marlene's amazing story of how she survived with a prognosis of less than one year to live. Her cancer survival has been medically documented and has baffled many physicians. She chose the course of alternative therapies after three surgeries, "I turned to a macrobiotic diet and lifestyle and learned that there truly is a wonderful connection between diet and mind-body and spiritual health."

Potluck date: Friday March 27, 6:30 p.m.

Hosts: Jeanne and Curt Sweet

Location:   22 Richards Street, South Portland, Maine, 04106

Please RSVP by phone at: 207-799-4919, or by email to: Jsweet1@maine.rr.com. RSVP would really be appreciated to help the host's prepare. Because of the popularity of the speaker, space will be limited to 25 people and will fill up quickly. Please let Jeanne & Curt know if you plan on attending to save your spot. Thank you.

Directions:   Coming across the Casco Bay Bridge go to 2nd stop light which is Ocean Street (Route 77) turn right and go down to the lst Stop Light which is Sawyer Rd. turn right and go west to 3rd St. on your left which is Richards St. turn left and their home is on the right side of the road.  If you are in doubt just search Map and address on google and directions will come up including a picture of their street.  Google takes you to Clifford St. (1 Block south of Sawyer) versus Sawyer but you get to same place either way.

HEALTH REQUEST:

Some of our attendees are allergic to certain ingredients, such as soy, gluten (wheat, barley rye grains), perfumes, etc. Please list ALL of the ingredients in the dish you bring. A recipe card is nice but ingredients are critical.

Note: I'm headed to Florida, so I'm taking a break from my Monday recipe post. See you on Wednesday!
