Cutting out artificial sweeteners

Posted by ellie

I need to cut out artificial sweeteners out of my diet- I am okay with small amounts in things, but I end up adding ridiculous amounts to other foods I buy (plain yogurt, coffee, oatmeal, etc).

Anyone succesfully cut sweeteners out your diet? I have considered replacing them with something healthier (maple syrup, honey, etc) but I think I just want to wean myself off.

 Tips? Ideas?

Hmm... I don't really use artificial sweeteners because I just don't really like the aftertaste. But, you could gradually start to decrease how much you put in over time. And, I always tell people to do half and half (half sweetener, half real sugars).
Thanks! I am trying to cut down but hadn't thought of replacing half with real sugar. Wary of the calories, but will see. Might try switching to 2% milk for a while to balance out the taste without the need for sweetness- my diet is virtually fat free most days so won't do me any harm.
