WIAW and Pizza Popcorn!

Snacks , WIAW July 17, 2012

Hello to all my Wednesday buddies, and welcome to Oatmeal With A Fork! Thank you Jenn for hosting this get-together! For a new blogger, like me, this brings me a lot of page views, so I’m very appreciative!

I don’t know about you guys, but I love taking online IQ tests and personality quizzes, and this is a really cool one my friend sent me, so I thought I’d include the link for anyone who’s interested! It’s a personality test that’ll give you a bit more insight into yourself.

Fitness this week has been focused more on running than the gym. I’ve been feeling like my core needs work, and the quickest way I’ve found to whip it into shape has been with running and ab work, such as planks and P90X.

( source )

P90X is a really effective series of DVDs that you can do at home. I love it! It includes 12 discs that work different muscle groups, and the theory behind it is that it takes just 90 days to get you into tip-top shape! I love the Ab Ripper X DVD! It’s a 15 minute hard-core ab workout that leaves you breathless.

Let’s take a look at some food!

Is it cool to see the straw coming at you…?…and I was trying to be creative with the Monopoly background!

Raw truffles (from Monday’s post)!

Beef and broccoli stir-fry….

I’ll be posting this recipe in two days for Firefighter Friday !

Today’s recipe is for pizza popcorn!

I got the idea after watching Dr. Oz one day. He was discussing healthy snacks, and I thought this was a great way to flavor popcorn! This is the combo I came up with:

Adapted from The Dr. Oz Show

1/4 c. unpopped kernels

2 T. parmesan (or nutritional yeast, if vegan)

1 t. oregano

pinch red pepper flakes

1/4 t. salt

1/2 t. basil

1/4 t. paprika

3/4 t. garlic powder

Pop the kernels on the stove in a bit of oil or in a popcorn maker. Mix the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Add all to a plastic Ziploc bag and shake it up!!

Makes about 5 cups worth of a great healthy snack….and it’s great for kiddos!

Well, maybe not this young…. ;-)

Have you ever tried P90X? What’s your favorite at-home workout?

I remember my friends and I trying Richard Simmons’ ‘Sweatin’ to the Oldies’ as a kid, but mainly we liked it because we got to hop around and dance to the music! These days, besides P90X, I really enjoy circuit workouts! You can find a ton of them on Pinterest !
