What’s Cookin?

Posted Dec 03 2008 1:29pm

After lots of research, Consumer Reports browsing (my dad has an account) and discussion, we decided to buy a new stove! We estimated that it would cost us almost the same amount to replace the ceramic top after parts, labor and “home visit fees” as it would buy a new one (actually, had we gone with a basic model we could have gotten one for less than the repair estimate). I went to the Sears Outlet near our house on the way back from Organic and found one - a stainless one (!) - for a great deal. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s pretty. So as of tomorrow, we should have a new stove. Of course I wish this hadn’t happened because the cost is a lot to swallow, but it is kind of exciting to get a new stove out of a bad situation.

I didn’t have much time to breathe, though, because my friend Victoria and I had (have) lots of Organicstudying to do. As soon as I got home we got to work - right through lunch. The husband made a quick appearance in between his jobs and we made our lunches together but he left us to study. OH YEAH - cereal held me over beautifully!!! Great to know :) I was never full full, but never hungry this morning. I just started to get hungry around 11:30 and was ready to eat by 12:30 = 5 hours!

For lunch I made an open-faced Turkey + Pumpkin Butter Sam-wich on GH High Five bread -

Plus carrots + PB -

And an Oikos with pom and a little crumbled Cran-Lemon Country Square

I was plenty full after lunch but I’m feeling a little empty now (3:30). I’m having some tea. I am planning an early dinner before my Micro Lab test at 6pm tonight. Because I’m slammed with tests, I’m taking today off of GOTR but will be going to our last practice/party on Monday instead. I’m dining at EarthFare tonight since I’m scared to use the stove or oven, want something more than lunch-y foods and want to see my husband for more than 5 minutes today! Hopefully tomorrow night we can cook up a storm on the stove :)

Adios!
