1. First and foremost, I need to introduce you to my new hair stylist. His name is Donnie Ray and he is a life changer. Hair changer? Same thing when you’re talking to a female, amiright? Donnie Ray just moved back to Charleston after spending time in NYC. My darling friend Buffie introduced him to me and I am so glad I trusted him with my hair. He first worked his magic on my locks back in mid April. Having told him I wanted to wear my hair curly more than I usually do, he chopped in a lot of layers to lessen the weight of my very heavy, thick hair. I was left with a shorter, lighter cut with lots of layers, bright highlights, and golden lowlights.
Because of the layers, I can wear my hair with some parts flipped under, and some flipped over, without having to use a curling iron.
Now it’s grown out a bit more, but the color still looks great, 12 weeks later.Â
If any of you Charleston girls are looking for a new hair stylist, I highly recommend you go see Donnie Ray at Salon Vantaggio in Mt. Pleasant. If you’re in NYC, try to get an appointment with him at in Soho. Ask for this cute face!
2. One of the products Donnie Ray sent me home with is this Prive detailing pomade . It “provides a light, flexible hold for adding texture, definition, and shine.” I love this stuff and it smells fantastic.
3. For when I wear my hair curly, my new favorite product is Victoria’s Secret new Beach Hair Wave Spray . It smells soooooo good and gives my hair bouncy curls without that greasy, crunchy look.
4. Do you know about MAC’s recycling program? Return 6 containers back to a MAC counter and they’ll give you a free lipstick of your choice. My most recent pick was Girl About Town, a “bright blue fuschia” (read: hot pink). I was scared to wear it at first, but it is so much fun on. Just do your eye makeup a bit lighter when you wear it.
5. I’ve been all about everything hot pink this year, which is pretty unusual for me. I’m usually drawn to blues and greens over the more girly colors. This Finger Paints polish in “Pink Perspective” is so perfect for Summer.
