Wedding Talk Wednesday: Favorite Wedding Movies…

Posted Jan 18 2012 7:07am

Good Morning!  Happy Wednesday!  Does this week feel like it’s taking forever to go by to anyone else?  I really feel like it’s dragging.  I think that might be because this is my first full week since before Christmas.  I’m proud of myself that I have been able to work the whole week so far.  Pain or not, I’m still getting my work done.  So I’m proud.

The entire day yesterday I just kept thinking about baked potatoes for dinner. I’m not quite sure why.  Lately, I’ve been wanting to eat potatoes.  I think it’s because it’s so gentle on my stomach and it’s comforting.  I guess that is why I want to eat it.  Who knows?  All I know is that I wanted potatoes and I didn’t have any!  So on my way home, I made a quick stop at the produce store.  Melissa told me that a 1 pound bag of brussels sprouts were on sale for $1.50 there.  It seems though every time I go there, they never have them.  I was hoping that they would be in stock.  They are probably not the best thing for me to be eating right now.  I figure though a couple of them won’t make me that bloated.  I hope.

I searched the shelves and they were nowhere to be found!  I couldn’t believe it.  I asked the girl at the register and she said they didn’t have any!  Later on that day though, Melissa told me she stopped there and they had them!  GR!  I was so frustrated!  I guess I didn’t look in the right spot or something. I don’t know.  I ended up leaving with a 1 pound bag of potatoes for $1.50, a 1 pound bag of apples for $1.50, and a container of grape tomatoes for $1.50.  I was happy with my purchases but sad about the brussels.  Next time most definitely.

As soon as I got home I threw two potatoes in the oven to cook.  I baked them for a very long time until they were really soft, yet the skin was a little crispy.  I then decided to of course roast some string beans and make a chicken patty.  While in Target over the weekend, I noticed Tyson had pre-cooked chicken patties that were on sale.  I thought that would be quick, and easy and gentle on my stomach.  Like I said before,  I haven’t really felt like trying new recipes or anything lately because I don’t know what is going to set off my stomach or not.  I promise though, I will have new recipes soon!  I miss cooking!

My dinner plate

These chicken patties were really good! I liked how the outside got somewhat crispy and the chicken tasted good too.  The potato came out perfect.  I was very happy with my dinner last night.  I’ll probably end up having something similar for dinner tonight.  I apologize already.  Haha!

So today is Wedding Talk Wednesday!  I’m running out of some topics to talk about because I haven’t done all that much with our wedding these past couple of weeks.  I’ve been really distracted with my health issues.  This weekend though, Mike and I are planning on sitting down and confirming our guest list, making a wedding website and hopefully designing our save the dates.  So next week I should hopefully have some news to share in regards to our wedding.

For today’s post though, I want to talk about some of my favorite wedding related movies and hear what some of yours are.  I don’t know about you but I have shelves of DVD’s in my house all related to wedding movies.  I love them.  I have loved them ever since I was little.  I think it’s something that most girls dream about.  So when you watch a movie that is related to weddings, you instantly connect.  Well at least that is what happened to me and it really helped me realize my love for planning events hence why I got my wedding planning certification.

Let’s get started on some of my favorites!  First up, I think this is one is a lot of girl’s favorites :

Father of the Bride

I think that had to be one of the very first wedding movies that I had ever seen.  I still love it!  It’s such a classic and I love Steve Martin and Diane Keaton in it.  They are so cute!  Not to mention I love the sequel too.  That is a good movie as well.

The Wedding Planner

This movie is always on tv now and I have to say that I stop and watch it every time it’s on.  My favorite part is when Jennifer Lopez, who plays the wedding planner, opens up her jacket at the beginning of the movie during the wedding to fix the father of the bride.  I could totally see myself having a jacket with a bunch of supplies in them for the day of the wedding.  A neat fact about this movie, the character Massimo is the actor who plays Karev on Grey’s Anatomy!  He looks SO young in this movie!

My Best Friend’s Wedding

This is another movie that is always on tv lately.  With Julia Roberts in this movie, how could you go wrong?  Love it.

27 Dresses

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this movie with a passion!  I am a big Katherine Heigel fan.  I just love everything about this movie!

Bride Wars

I am not a fan of Anne Hathaway by any means.  I love Kate Hudson though.  I really like this movie a lot but it’s so true how some girls act about their weddings!  It’s definitely worth watching!

The Wedding Date

I love Debra Messing in this movie!  This is one that not a lot of people talk about.  I happen to really like it though!

License to Wed

I am a Mandy Moore fan so I had to see this movie when it first came it.  It’s actually really funny!  I really like this movie a lot.

The Wedding Singer

This one is a classic!  I had to include this one on the list.

Wedding Crashers

When you put Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn together in a movie, you know it’s going to be funny!  This is a funny one.

Our Family Wedding

This movie is probably the lesser known movie out of all of these. I actually watched it On-Demand last year and I loved it.

The Proposal

This movie is a MUST see!  Make sure you watch for the scene in the forest with Sandra Bullock and Betty White.  “To the window, to the wall.”  That is all I will say!  ;)

So those are some of my favorite wedding movies!   What are some of your favorite wedding related movies?  Do you have a favorite that I left off the list?

Happy Wednesday!
