using applesauce or apricot puree to replace fat in a baking recipe?

Posted by Gilda P.

I read in Tip of the Day you can use either applesauce or apricot puree to replace half the fat in a baking recipe! I make a lot of cookies and this would cut the fat content by half which is great for me in losing weight! Has anyone else tried this?

I've tried it and it works really well. I especially like to use this tip when I'm making a cake. It not only reduces the fat, it increases the fiber which is always good.

yes I have been using applesauce for years now -- it really makes the cake moist and delicous
