The First Weekend Of April!…

Posted Apr 07 2014 6:53am

Hey there!  Happy Monday!  I hope you had a great weekend!  What did you do this weekend?  The weather this weekend was interesting.  On Friday, it rained the entire day and night.  Then on Saturday it was supposed to be warm and sunny but it was very breezy so it made it quite chilly.  Then yesterday it was sunny but again it was quite chilly.  I was glad that we had sunny, somewhat warmer days because it made moving items from our house into the garage much easier.  We are supposed to have rain again today which is why they postponed the Phillies home opener game.  It is now scheduled for tomorrow.

Anyway, let’s recap the weekend.  So on Friday after work, I picked Melissa up and we went to a huge children’s consignment sale.  This was one of the best sales that we have been to and since we now know the gender it made selecting items much easier.  Melissa helped me pick out some great items for the baby.  I got so many onsies, and a few other items, almost gave the gender away there for a second!  I got a variety of newborn and 3 month clothes because I don’t know how big the baby will be.  I had a trash bag filled with items and I only spent $13.

We went back to their house and had dinner together and watched Shark Tank.  I don’t know why I don’t watch that show more often.  It is actually a good show.  Do you watch Shark Tank?  I thought it was interesting to see the company Kodiak Cakes on there since I have their pancake mix occasionally.  Some of those people have great ideas, and others not so much.

On Saturday, I relaxed around the house for a bit and Mike and I went out for a little to run some errands.  We decided to go out to dinner since I had a coupon left from my birthday.  It made for a reasonably priced dinner.  I wasn’t a huge fan of what I ordered but you live and you learn.  Mike and I were so exhausted.  We had plans to watch a bunch of shows on the dvr but we barely made it through two because of how tired we were.

On Sunday, we woke up quite early because we had things we needed to get done.  I went back to the consignment sale that I went to with Melissa on Friday since on Sunday everything was 50% off.  You can’t beat that!  I thought things were going to be picked over but boy was I wrong!  We ended up getting an even larger bag filled with more items and I only spent $14 this time.  We got onsies and other items for as low as 50 cents for 3 items!  All of the items that we purchased from both days look BRAND new!  I am very careful when purchasing used clothes.  Everything looked to be in great condition and some items even had tags on them!  I was very pleased.

We got our usual grocery store items and then I went over to Melissa and my mom’s house.  My mom knew of someone who wanted to give away some baby items.  We ended up getting what looks like a brand new crib mattress which will save us quite a bit of money.  I was pleased about that.  I need to do research on crib mattresses since I don’t know too much about it just to make sure the brand and firmness is safe but other than that, I am glad that we have a large item down and more to come!

After that, Mike and I did more cleaning and moving of items in the baby room.  All of my boxes, which there were a TON are moved from the closet and now in our garage.  One side of the closest is empty and now we just need to empty the bottom of the other side.  We are moving things along nicely.  I think in just a few more weeks, we will be able to move the furniture out of that room and it will be empty.  We are making a ton of progress which definitely eases my anxiety level quite a bit.

Alright, well that is my update from this weekend.  I hope you have a great day!  Happy Monday!
