Jeff and I arrived around 1:30 grabbed our media badges and headed to the event.
In true blogger fashion I had to get a pic of all the wine glasses. Once the photo shoot was over we grabbed our glasses and headed into wine drinking paradise.
When we walked in Robert Irvine was signing books, the line was long and we were eager to get our tasting on so I snagged a paparazzi shot of him.
Commence wine tasting!
Jeff and I had a blast trying different wines and talking with some of the vendors at some of our favorite wines.
Some of our favorite wines included
Vinkara which is Turkish wine! When sampling the wine we first sampled a red made with new grapes and then another made with aged grapes. I became a huge fan of the Kalecik Karasi which is a dry red wine.
Another favorite was The Crush Club ! I was all about this red, it happened to be one of the first booths we went to and I kept talking about it for the rest of the day. We even went back to ask if they were sure they couldn’t sell us a bottle right then!
If you didn’t like Wines that Rock , at least they came in cool bottles. Lucky for us we thoroughly enjoyed this wine. Jeff and I both tried the Pink Floyd labeled red and it was delicious!
Another favorite, especially of Jeff’s was Ernie Els Big easy . (for those of you who don’t know he is a South African golfer, I was unaware until Jeff told me) He is a good golfer and a has great taste in wine that Ernie!
A few other that we enjoyed but didn’t snag a picture of are
Edna Valley - we likes the cab and the merlot The Naked Grape - at $5.99 a pop who wouldn’t like it? But really we were big fans of the cab and the pinot noir and obviously fans of the price Fish House - had a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc The Wine Sisterhood - the Cab was really good, they also had a bottle margarita that did not disappoint especially for someone like me who really isn’t into tequila!
Not only did we try wine but I got to finally unite with Cait after months of reading each others blogs and chatting on facebook! It was so great to meet her in person and only made me wish that we lived a smidgen closer to each other so that we could hang out on the regular obsessing about food and wine.
Oh, we did eat some food while we were there. I had some chips and guace and shrimp ceviche from Soltoro , obviously I had to go back since I loved it the first time we went .
The highlight of the food was the lemon meringue the lovely people at Pete and Gerry’s let us sample!
Jeff and I left with red stained teeth and cheesy smiles on our face!
We had a blast and cannot thank Mohegan Sun enough for giving us the opportunity to attend SunWine Fest . We hope to be able to make it back there next year and many years to come!
Have you tried any of the wines mentioned above?
Would you like to attend something like this? I should mention the upstairs was full of beer, but we never made it up there.
