In a wide pan / kadai, heat oil. Add mustard seeds. When they begin to pop, add chopped shallots / onions and chopped garlic. Fry till golden color and fragrant. Add curry leaves and saute for 2 - 3 minutes. Add marinated potatoes and stir well for 5 minutes on a medium heat. Cover with a lid and cook on a low heat for 10 minutes or till done and spice paste well coated on potatoes / golden color. Serve as a side dish with Rotis / Pulao. |

Spicy Baby Potatoes ( with garlic )
Basic recipe from Dakshin Bharath Dishes ( Author - Jaya V Shenoy )
Serves: 2
You will need
10 baby potatoes
3/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
12 garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon oil
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
10 shallots, finely chopped or 2 tablespoon finely chopped onion
2 garlic, chopped
1 spring fresh & dark color curry leaves
Method
For potatoes:
Wash, clean and boil potatoes. Peel and keep aside.
Grind fine masala ( spice paste ) using garlic cloves with red chilli powder and salt. Marinate boiled potatoes with it. Keep aside for half an hour.
