Sake Drops: A Refreshing "Simple Saturday Sipper" Cocktail

Ah, Sake Drops...these are my favorite summertime or really anytime cocktail to make at home. I actually have posted them once before, a year ago with a Japanese pupu platter for Blog Party #36 (here), but since they are so good and I was craving one I thought it was time to bring them out again. I first had these cocktails in Seattle while on a business trip/meeting, after-hours at a little sushi bar and restaurant near our hotel that had late-night cheap pupus, sushi rolls and these delicious cocktails. A few of us became a bit addicted to them and I figured out how to recreate them back at home. Just 3 ingredients; lemonade, sake and grenadine, plus a garnish. You can either make the lemonade yourself or use a concentrate or bottled lemonade if you are feeling lazy. They are tangy, slightly sweet and refreshing, a perfect Simple Saturday Sipper.

2/3 lemonade (make your own or use frozen "country style" concentrate) 1/3 sake (Dragonfish used Momokawa Silver Sake but any good, crisp, fruity sake will do) a small pour of Grenadine to garnish (about 1/2 ounce)
Mix lemonade and sake together with ice in a cocktail shaker (or you can make up a larger quantity ahead of time in a pitcher and refrigerate until very cold). Pour into a martini glass and pour about 1/2 oz of grenadine into drink before serving and garnish with a lemon slice. Enjoy by itself or with some pupus like sushi rolls, edamame or ahi poke (as in the picture below).
BTW: The delightful Kim at Stirring the Pot, kindly awarded some of her fellow bloggers withThe Lovely Blog Award last week and I want to thank her for thinking of me and for putting me in such great company. I got to know Kim through Tyler Florence Fridays where she is a regular contributor and she has a great blog with lots of fun recipes. Mahalo Kim!
