Quick, Easy and Healthy Breakfast Ideas Quick, Easy and Healthy Breakfast Ideas

Posted Sep 19 2010 4:31am

Here are some great ideas about healthy simple breakfasts! Thanks to Ann Martin for writing this article to share with us!

We all know that breakfast is the most important meal of the deal, but why do we all consistently miss it? Not only does eating a healthy breakfast fuel our mind and body for the first half of the day, but making that time to eat a healthy breakfast just makes you feel good. You don’t need a lot of time to get breakfast on the table either. Here are some quick, easy and healthy breakfast ideas for you and the rest of your family to enjoy and in order to start the day on the right foot.

Breakfast Wraps

Wraps are so versatile and quite easy to carry on the go, so you don’t actually have to sit down at the table for breakfast. Wrap up a hard boiled egg, with some low-fat cheddar cheese, a piece of Canadian bacon in a whole-grain tortilla and breakfast is ready to go. To change it up, try adding a bit of salsa, or you could even use the previous nights turkey or chicken in with your wrap.

Yogurt Parfaits

Another portable breakfast idea! Simply fill a small cup with low-fat yogurt, 1 cup of your favorite fruit (strawberries, blueberries, peaches, etc.) and then a sprinkle the tops with a few teaspoons of wheat germ. It is quite easy to alter this healthy breakfast idea, by varying the yogurt flavor, type of fruit, and opting for a nut topping instead of wheat germ.

Toaster Friendly Ideas

So, I am going to state the obvious, if you have time for nothing else make toast. Try opting for whole-wheat or whole-grain in order fit in your day’s worth of necessary whole grains. Go ahead and smooth some all natural peanut butter on top and serve it with a banana. Or try some whole grain waffles, they are easy and healthy as long as you don’t slather them in butter in syrup. Try adding a reduced sugar jelly or an all fruit preserve to them with a sprinkle of berries on top.

Instant Oatmeal

One of the best ways to sneak in fiber is by eating a hot steaming bowl of delicious oatmeal. Instant oatmeal is also low in calories and tastes delicious. There are so many flavor varieties that can literally be made in seconds that there really is no reason not to eat breakfast. Serve some fruit in the side, such as a kiwi, an orange or an apple.

As you can see, you don’t need a whole lot of time to get breakfast on the table. Sometimes it is the easy and simple breakfasts that sometimes get over looked. So make time for breakfast and you’ll be on your way to a great day!
